Resource Allocation in Mental Health in Central and East Europe

The project's objectives are to describe resource allocation in mental health care systems, identify common regional trends and national differences, explain the differences between countries, and to build an international network of experts.

Social Determinants of Mental Health: Phase I

The project will focus on using existing data to prepare theoretical and methodological background for future research. This first phase will focus on cross-national comparison of mental health and its social determinants in the EU-27 and Croatia on an aggregate level, and on the Czech Republic and Slovakia on an individual level, as well as social determinants of youths' mental health in the Czech Republic.

The Impact of Depression on Diabetes Patients: Prevelence, Costs, and Policy Making

The project's objectives are to assess the prevalence of depression among diabetes patients, assess the impact of depression on the costs associated with diabetes, and to identify if it is cost-efficient to detect and treat depression in diabetes patients.

The Picture of Mental Illness in the Czech, Slovak, and Croatia Mass Media (pilot project)

Expected outcomes are a coding system (already begun in the Czech Republic) for the analysis of media messages about mental illness; a basis for systemic longitudinal data collection and analysis; a manual; a determination of the stigmatizing potential of various media messages about mental health; and an educational campaign for the media industry.
