The 2008 Berkeley Conference on the Global Health Workforce invites researchers to submit abstracts by October 19, 2007. Articles may be from a country-specific, regional, or global perspective and submissions from international collaborations are highly encouraged. The conference, jointly sponsored by WHO, World Bank, Kaiser Permanente, and UC Berkeley, will take place on April 4 & 5, 2008 in Berkeley, California, USA.

Hinshaw, PhD, researcher Sepideh Modrek, BA, and Peter Levine, MD have published a new article in the March/April 2007 issue of Health Affairs. The article is about the global use and cost of medications to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), analyzing the growth of utilization and expenditure in both developed and developing countries.

GCHEPR hosts the 2006 Social Capital Global Network Workshop
In October 2006, the Global Center for Health Economics & Policy Research hosted a global social capital workshop bringing together researchers from England, France, Sweden, Norway, and the United States to discuss such issues as Community Social Capital and Acute Coronary Syndrome, The Demand for Social Interaction, and Health Behaviors and Risk Equilibria.
